Plan an Explosive 4th of July Weekend in Peekskill

Independence Day falls on a Tuesday this year, and if you’re lucky you’ve got an extra long weekend to plan for! Here’s our itinerary to help you make the most of this 4th of July weekend in Peekskill. Boom!

1. Rock out with The Lonely Leaves at Birdsall House

The quintessential Peekskill band kicks off the holiday weekend Friday night in the Birdsall House beer garden. Expect great sing-along tunes, dad jokes, and throngs of thirsty fangirls. The party starts Friday, June 30 at 7:30 pm.

2. Get BBQ ready at the Peekskill Farmer’s Market

The Peekskill Farmer’s Market has been in full swing for the month of June and if you haven’t hit it up yet, this is the weekend to do it. Head over and load up on farm-fresh provisions for your 4th of July BBQ and support local while you’re at it. The market opens Saturday, July 1st at 8 am on Bank Street and runs until 2 in the afternoon.

3. Jam all day at the Drift Jam Music Festival at River Outpost

Five epic bands come together in one even more epic location: River Outpost on Peekskill’s south bank of the Hudson River! The festival begins Saturday, July 1st at 2 pm and goes late. Headliners Space Bacon bring improvisational-futuristic-space jams. Stay for a full day of live music featuring Blendmode, F.O.G., Microcave & Skydaddy with some late-night fun to be announced.

4. Grab a waffle cone at The Hudson Creamery. Sweet!

Better late than never! The Hudson Creamery is finally back, and just in time for the holiday weekend. Get a hand-dipped cone of your favorite flavor of Jane’s Ice Cream (based in Kingston, NY) at this riverfront favorite. Our go-to is the Salted Caramel Pretzel with a Nutella smear inside a sugar cone.

5. Check out some American muscle at Westchester Cars & Coffee

What’s more patriotic than the revving engines and smooth body lines of powerful cars? The weekly Westchester Cars & Coffee car show returns to the municipal parking lot on Water Street across from the Peekskill Brewery. The fun starts Sunday, July 2nd at 8 am and goes until 10 am.

6. Go all in on Peekskill’s 4th of July Celebrations

On Tuesday, July 4th the City of Peekskill takes off all the stops and goes hard for Independence Day. The fun starts at 10:30 am with the 4th of July Parade put on by the Peekskill Volunteer Firefighters Association. The parade gets moving on South Division Street and ends at the Central Firehouse.

Music from the band Ladies of the 80’s kicks off at the Peekskill Riverfront Green Park at 7 pm. The Ladies will cover the hits of the 80’s at the until the sunsets and the fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. If you haven’t experienced the Peekskill 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular yet, brace yourself for one of the best shows around. The incredible river and mountain views are the ultimate canvas for a pyrotechnic showcase that goes for longer, and louder and brighter than you might be expecting.
