
Sing Street
This musical coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by John Carney revolves around an inner-city South Dublin boy starting a band called Sing Street to impress a girl in 1980s Ireland. The film features original music composed by Gary Clark and Adam Levin, among other musicians, and music of the period from The Cure, Duran-Duran, The Clash, and Spandau Ballet. It received numerous award nominations and won the Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Jack Raynor.
Prior to the screening, guest speaker Dr. Cathal Pratt, Irish Cultural Studies expert from Fordham University, will present an historical introduction and lead a post-screening discussion.
