Mothball Fleet on the Hudson
How many people can remember seeing the World War II “Liberty Ships” lined up from 1946 – 1971 along the Hudson River’s west shore at Jones Point (a hamlet in Stony Point)? These cargo vessels accomplished vital supply tasks during several wars (World War II, Korea and Vietnam). At its peak in July 1965, 189 vessels were anchored at Jones Point. Come to the Peekskill Museum on Saturday, December 2, to learn about this incredible history.
